Accessibility

Panko Collaborative Law is committed to making this website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use assistive technology or who navigate without a mouse. Accessibility matters to us because the people we serve are often reaching us at a difficult moment, and the site should not add another barrier.

The Standard We Aim For

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at Level AA. Accessibility is an ongoing effort rather than a one-time result: as we add and update content, we test against this standard and work to fix issues we find. We have not been independently audited, so we describe this as a goal we actively work toward, not a guarantee that every page fully conforms.

What We Do

Measures currently built into the site include:

  • Semantic, structured HTML with clear headings so screen readers can navigate pages.
  • Keyboard navigation — we build interactive elements to work with a keyboard, not only a mouse.
  • Visible focus styles on interactive elements, so keyboard users can see where they are.
  • Descriptive alternative text on meaningful images.
  • A colour palette chosen for readable, high-contrast text.
  • A responsive layout that adapts to phones and tablets and supports browser zoom and enlarged text.
  • A fast, lightweight build so the site remains usable on slower connections and older devices.
  • No auto-playing audio or video, and no decorative emoji used in place of words.

Quick Exit Safety Feature

For visitors who may not be safe, every page on this site includes a Quick Exit control in the bottom-left corner. Selecting it leaves immediately for a neutral website (a search engine) and replaces the current page in your browser history, so the Back button does not return here. It can also be triggered at any time by pressing the Escape key. The control is built into the page itself, so it works with a keyboard and with assistive technology — not only with a mouse — and it continues to leave the site even if JavaScript is turned off.

Third-Party Content

Some features rely on third-party services — for example, our online appointment scheduler and embedded maps. We do not control the accessibility of those services, and they may not fully meet the standard above. If a third-party feature prevents you from completing something, please contact us and we will help you another way, such as by phone or email.
